Windhoek to Sossusvlei
Early morning check-in is required at 09h15 at Hosea Kutako International Airport for your departure flight with Scenic Air at 10h00. Upon arrival at Sossusvlei Airstrip you will be transferred to Sossusvlei Lodge where you will check-in for the next two nights.

Sossusvlei Lodge
Luxury Lodge accommodation right at the entrance to Soussusvlei Desert the oldest in the world, and home to the world’s highest Sand dunes.

Sossusvlei Lodge is situated ±330km south-west of Windhoek on a 40 000-hectare private reserve amidst the Namib Desert. It is located directly adjacent to the entrance gate of the Namib Naukluft Park that is sanctuary to some of the highest dunes in the world’s oldest desert, the famous Sossusvlei and the awe inspiring Sesriem Canyon.

Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre provides various planned activities of discovery into the Sossusvlei area while understanding and respecting the needs of guests for an independent and private style of travel. There are many products to suit all and those who have already “been there and done that” and who are looking for excellent service and something different.

After check-in, you enjoy lunch overlooking the plains at the lodge.

Enjoy a sundowner nature drive on the Lodge’s private reserve in the late afternoon. Watch the shadows lengthen as the guide takes you to a panoramic location where sundowner drinks can be enjoyed as you watch the sun set.

Dinner tonight will be at the lodge.

Windhoek to Sossusvlei
Early morning check-in is required at 09h15 at Hosea Kutako International Airport for your departure flight with Scenic Air at 10h00. Upon arrival at Sossusvlei Airstrip you will be transferred to Sossusvlei Lodge where you will check-in for the next two nights.

Today requires a very early start as you join the lodge excursion to Sossusvlei at sunrise. Prepare yourself for some breath-taking scenery as regular stops are made along the way as you drive through the dune corridor towards Deadvlei. A stop is made at Dune 45 to see the world’s most photographed dune. Deadvlei is a gradual 2,6km guided trip or for those more fit and daring you can climb Big Daddy Dune.

Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei has monumentally high dunes; their sinuous crests and warm colours changing as the day waxes and wanes. These gigantic star-shaped mountains of sand are formed by strong multi-directional winds; they are at their highest and most spectacular where the west-flowing Tsauchab River empties itself into the Vlei.

The warm tints of the sand, ranging from apricot to orange, red and maroon, contrast vividly with the dazzling white surfaces of the large deflationary clay pans at their bases. When it has rained sufficiently in the interior for the Tsauchab River to come down and fill the main pan, flamingos and other aquatic birds are drawn to the area.

Upon return to the lodge you enjoy lunch and freshen up a bit. The next excursion to Sesriem Canyon departs after lunch.

Dinner tonight will be a special bush dinner in the desert.

Sossusvlei to Windhoek

Enjoy a relaxing breakfast and enjoy the quiet before you get transferred to the airstrip for your charter flight with Scenic Air back to Hosea Kutako International Airport for arrival @ 15h15.
